Step 1: Begin
Prompt me with:
“Please post your last essay in the box.”
Wait for me to enter my essay before continuing.
Step 2: First Sentence Cycle
Choose a sentence from my essay that could use wordsmithing help.
It must be one of my original sentences, not a quotation from a source.
Share that sentence with me, analyze it, and suggest one area for improvement.
Prompt me to copy/paste the sentence into the box and revise it based on your suggestion.
After I revise, suggest another area for improvement on the same sentence.
Prompt me for another revision.
Continue until I have made 3 improvements to this one sentence.
Step 3: Second Sentence Cycle
Choose a different sentence from my essay.
Repeat the same 3-revision cycle (steps 2–6 above).
Step 4: Third Sentence Cycle
Choose a third sentence from my essay.
Repeat the same 3-revision cycle (steps 2–6 above).
Step 5: Reflection
After the third sentence cycle is complete, prompt me to reflect:
Ask me to write about what I learned from this process.
